Trame di Viaggio: Why telling the story of a land is an act of care
Since I arrived in Caiazzo ten years ago, I’ve learned that truly knowing a place takes time. It’s not enough to just look at it: you have to live it, walk through it, listen to it, and slowly earn the trust of those who call it home.
The Caiatine Hills are a quiet little world of light, olive trees, and ancient stories. But like many areas in our South, this land—rich as it is in beauty—often suffers from a sense of resignation that slowly stifles initiative. Yet, behind every stone and every vineyard, there is a strength that resists: the strength of those who choose to stay, or return, out of love for the land.
Through my B&B, Le Piracante, I realized that tourism can be much more than just passing through: it can become an act of care. A way to preserve beauty and attract travelers who choose to understand, discover, and give back with pleasure, rather than just consuming.
A New Narrative Breath
From this vision, Trame di Viaggio (Threads of Travel ) was born. I didn’t want a promotional campaign; I wanted an idea capable of transforming a stay into an occasion for collective storytelling. I believed that the most authentic voice of the territory should be that of its visitors.
On this journey, the first person to share this vision was Paola Riccio, from the Alepa winery. Paola is a tenacious woman who produces high-quality wines; with her, the first core of this column was born, united by a mutual respect for the environment and a deep bond with tradition. I invite you to discover her work, perhaps by visiting her among her vines, to taste the history of Pallagrello wine and the strength of those who invest in these hills.
A Mosaic of Perspectives
Today, Trame di Viaggio is the collective memory of Le Piracante. Every guest staying with us—or experiencing a tasting at Alepa—can become part of this story.
Through a photograph, a short video, or a thought, everyone contributes to building an archive of impressions lived among the Caiatine Hills and Upper Campania. It is a way to reveal the beauty that already exists but often goes unnoticed, protecting it from alienating tourism models.
A Path Growing from the Ground Up
Trame di Viaggio is not a campaign; it is a seed. It is meant to grow slowly, fueled by participation, ideas, and the people who choose to believe in it. Because only from the ground up—through trust, time, and genuine relationships—can lasting and real change be born.
The goal over time is to build a network of stories and relationships capable of breathing new life into local tourism, generating concrete and lasting benefits for the entire community. This virtuous process of participation and exchange aims to involve more and more people as it evolves.
How to participate: If you stay at Le Piracante (for at least two nights) or take part in an experience at Alepa, your mission will be to explore, be inspired, and share your story. You will receive all the details upon booking, but the invitation is open starting now: bring an attentive gaze with you.
A Personal Invitation
Trame di Viaggio is my way of saying thank you to this land that continues to offer beauty and inspiration. It is an invitation to experience it with respect and curiosity, letting the land tell its own story—through our eyes, our voices, and our shared experiences.
